We are looking for a part time carers advocate (remote)
Black Belt Advocacy have a history in supporting best practice in the delivery of Independent Advocacy through the training and ongoing support of advocates. We have recently begun to offer Independent Advocacy support to carer’s who have a loved one in a mental health setting.
Your role is to essentially oversee the smooth running of the carers advocacy service and specific duties will include:
Managing a telephone helpline. This helpline will be staffed on weekday afternoons. Your role will be take queries and respond to referrals from this helpline.
Responding to email requests.
You will be responsible for managing an inbox which carers (and professionals) can contact about the advocacy service. You will be responsible for the daily upkeep of this.
Providing advocacy (mostly remote through telephone and email). This will include providing a range of advocacy support including helping the person to:

access information

make choices
-
raise concerns
-
express their views
-
challenge decisions
-
feed into the service
-
access support and other services
Maintaining records and the database. You will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the database system and complying with GDPR requirements
You will need to follow the Advocacy Charter at all times and ensure you provide independent, confidential and person led advocacy.
