To complete the Level 4 Certificate you need to complete 4 units. The first three are mandatory units that will support you to develop a broad understanding and knowledge of advocating alongside individuals:

Unit 401 Principles and practice of independent advocacy

Unit 402 The legislative framework which impacts upon the independent advocacy role

Unit 403 Entitlements to independent advocacy
The fourth unit is a choice from the following:

Unit 404 Independent mental capacity advocacy

Unit 405 Independent mental health advocacy
-
Unit 406 Independent advocacy within adult social care
-
Unit 407 Independent advocacy with children and young people

Unit 408 Independent complaints advocacy

Unit 409 Community advocacy
You need to be working in these roles in order to generate the real world evidence to be used as part of your assessment. If you are not sure, please talk to us.
Many advocates complete additional specialist units if they are (or intending to) provide advocacy in different settings. You may take up to 3 yrs from your registration date however most of our students complete within 12-18 months.
