Advocacy in restricted settings for people with a learning disabilty and autistic people

There are too many people with a learning disability and autistic people who are locked up in mental health settings and subject to restricted practices.  Everyone detained under the Mental Health Act is entitled to receive support from an Independent Mental Health Advocate.  However, there are concerns about the quality of advocacy that is available.

In 2021, a group of interested people came together to discuss what is going on.  This paper is the result of these discussions and throws some light upon issues that need addressing.
